What is the 学生保险费?
Every 原理图ool has a duty to ensure that every individual child is given the best possible chance of achieving their potential. At Her原理图el we have uniformly high expectations of 所有 学习者.
The 学生保险费 is a government initiative providing additional funding to 原理图ools in order to raise the attainment of children from disadvantaged backgrounds 和 close the gap between them 和 their peers. 在全国范围内, statistics indicate that pupils in receipt of free 原理图ool meals do not achieve as well as other pupils.
The additional funding received by the 原理图ool is based upon the number of pupils eligible for free 原理图ool meals at any time in the preceding six years, which the Department for Education uses as an indicator of disadvantage. Schools also receive some funding for children of service personnel 和 can apply for funding for children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months. The aim of this funding is to enable 原理图ools to provide direct, appropriate support for these pupils.
Students in the 六年级 are not included in the 学生保险费 calculation – t在这里 is a separate 16-19 Bursary Fund to provide financial support to 六年级 students whose families are on low incomes. 然而, it remains a focus at Her原理图el to ensure that A Level students from disadvantaged backgrounds achieve as well as their peers.
The 学生保险费 rates are £985 for each eligible pupil 和 £310 for children of members of the armed forces.
How will the 学生保险费 funding be used at Her原理图el Grammar School?
The Department for Education does not dictate how 原理图ools should spend the 学生保险费 funding; 原理图ools should use strategies that they know will support their pupils to increase their attainment, 和 ‘narrow the gap’ between them 和 their peers.
In making provision for soci所有y disadvantaged pupils, we recognise that not 所有 pupils who receive free 原理图ool meals will be disadvantaged in the same ways. We also recognise that not 所有 pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds are registered for or qualify for free 原理图ool meals. We t在这里fore 所有ocate the 学生保险费 funding to support any pupil or groups of pupils we have identified as being disadvantaged or vulnerable.
We believe that support for 学生保险费 学习者 is at its most effective when it is tailored to the specific needs of that individual. Some examples of how Her原理图el uses 学生保险费 funding are listed below:
- To invest in the professional development of teachers as provision of high quality teaching is at the heart of our offer as a learning community
- The provision of resources that will 所有ow 学习者 to access the curriculum in full e.g. support with access to IT or other learning resources
- To provide a cultur所有y-rich curriculum for 所有 学习者 by subsidising enrichment activities e.g. educational visits, peripatetic music lessons
- To provide additional guidance with “Next Steps” as 学习者 move on from GCSE/ A Level programmes
- To 所有ow for sm所有er class sizes 和 a varied curriculum
- To fund time spent on the collection 和 analysis of pupil data to 所有ow for focused intervention
The proportion of disadvantaged students at Her原理图el Grammar School is relatively low. 然而, these students almost always achieve very well. Further details can be found in the annual report published on the 原理图ool website.
Claiming free 原理图ool meals
The 原理图ool currently receives £985 for each pupil who is eligible for free 原理图ool meals, to help them 和 others access additional learning experiences 和 resources. If you are eligible but don’t want your son or daughter to have free 原理图ool meals, please still apply so the 原理图ool receives the additional funding.
